All it takes is 10 mindful minutes | Andy Puddicombe

When is the last time you did absolutely nothing for 10 whole minutes? Not texting, talking or even thinking? Mindfulness expert Andy Puddicombe describes the transformative power of doing just that: Refreshing your mind for 10 minutes a day, simply by being mindful and experiencing the present moment. (No need for incense or sitting in strange positions.) TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less). Look for talks on Technology, Entertainment and Design -- plus science, business, global issues, the arts and much more. I think when juggling, we enter a special mental state like yoga, TM, or even being hypnotized. Would love to see the brain science of these states. BTW, here's me and mine, juggling:

This is an ancient practice (very well illustrated and summarised here) sometimes called the perennial philosophy. Eckhart Tolle is the latest populariser of this (in clear language, and to find this teaching buried in every religion), and before him were Alan Watts and Krishnamurti, and others before them, going back to the original ancient Hinduism (before it degenerated into a pantheon of very human-like 'gods'). Eckhart Tolle quotes the following from original Hinduism: It is not WHAT the eye can see, but THAT whereby the eye IS ABLE to see -- know this to be Brahma the Spirit, and not what people here on Earth adore. It is not WHAT the skin can feel, but THAT whereby the skin IS ABLE to feel -- know this to be Brahma the Spirit, and not what people here on Earth adore. It is not WHAT the mind can think, but THAT whereby the mind IS ABLE to think -- know this to be Brahma the Spirit, and not what people here on Earth adore. (And one could go through the other physical senses before one gets to the mind.) We are not our mind. We are an Awareness that observes all things without judgement or reaction, including the thoughts and emotions that our mind throws up. When we are lost in our mind, we are really unconscious, and so we need to practice observing our mind (with bemused detachment), so the Awareness that is really us can awaken. The Bhudda means the awakened one.

What does mindfulness mean to you? 🌿 More often than you would think, people tell me they have never heard of the concept really, or it doesn't mean anything specific for them. Mindfulness is an art you discover from within. You need to be aware of this tool and allow yourself space to explore.

😎Andy has shown the average Joe Blow how to Zen out in a chaotic time. Thanx to Russell Brand who interviewed him on Under The Skin podcast. Mindful, Kind, peaceful, at ease, playful, in the now. 🎎 CATVIDEOS

Thank you for this Andy! In Nia, we call it Living Meditation. It is those moments that are present, even in the 'doing', that we are not doing anything. Taking time to notice where the sensation of touch is happening in our body brings us to the 'non-doing', the Living Meditation that is with us all the time. 10 minutes. yes! BUT even nano-seconds of 'non-doing' brings us to the present moment. Living Meditation for health and happiness. Check it out!

Amazing video. Thank you for sharing. Being in the present and observing the moment is an amazing thing to do. But still, not that easy. Most of us are overly thinking. Either regretting the past, or worrying about the future. However, once I started experimenting what it means to just BE in the present, it was something that I wanted to experiment more and more. I have shared my thoughts about it you are more than welcome to check them out:

I have the app headspace it's amazing I have insomnia if you have insomnia or have stress or really struggle to sleep I would say you should try it out because it helps me every night but you do have to pay. But it's totally worth it and there is kids to but I do adults because I have super bad insomnia so basically I'm just saying if u have insomnia cancer things like that you should try headspace out it really helps 😊🤗 it really helps you if you go to school it help to not be tired and stuff I also have exemah and asmah so it helps me stop itching and gets my breathing in the right rhythm before I go to bed it has a lot of things in that are breathing añd reliving stress and clearing the mind of any thoughts. This is also good if u get bully in any way it helps you forget because your too busy focused on your breathing or reliving stress it really helps me any way Thank you and goodnight everybody thanks for reading like if u agree night😊🤗
